Johnson Orchid

London artist Johnson Orchid has unveiled his brand new single “Girl” which was premiered on SBTV. Being produced by Mikey (SOS) who’s responsible for Wretch32’s smash hit “6 Words” this new track is an excellent throw back to 90's UK Garage and R&B.

“Based on what we all seem to do without knowing - bringing past relationships and baggage into new ones, whether it be insecurities, trust issues, or a broken heart, and having it affect our current relationships”

"I want to represent something that is rare, something that doesn't come around every day. The orchid represents art, luxury, rhythm and beauty... it's really rare to find a black orchid"  - Johnson Orchid.

Music, sound and the arts are constantly evolving. With the ever changing nature of the arts comes a promising artist that stands out with a different edge and uniqueness. Some call it swag, some call it star quality, some might even call it the 'X' factor; in this case we call him Johnson Orchid. British singer / songwriter / dancer/ musician Johnson Orchid is the one to watch. Coming from a background in music, fine art and choreography his mission is to bring substance back to pop music, "I want to bring back that electrifying energy that when you see someone perform or look at a piece of art, you are in awe, like "wow", someone put the work into that to give it life... I want to bring back that feeling." With Influences such as J.M.W. Turner, Van Gough, Fred Astaire, James Brown, The Beatles, Prince, Elvis and Gene Kelly, his musical repertoire is advanced for his 22 years. For as long as he can remember music has always been the soundtrack to his life. Coming from a musical family, Johnson's older brothers are all musicians. His parents used to play a range of artists from Bob Marley to Michael Jackson in the family home.

Johnson Orchid has been exposed to an eclectic mix of legendary talents. With such a mix of music mentors, the fusion of sensational sounds that emanate from Johnson Orchid is expected. He is a versatile, exciting artist. His rarity allows him to carve his own lane in the manufactured world of pop music. Self taught on the guitar since primary school age, Johnson also writes his own music, he says, "There has to be a concept or something that urges me to write. I always try to write from truth. I don't sit down and think to myself "let me write a hit today" I just have to find a concept". Johnson Orchid describes his sound as, "Pop indie, very experimental (meaning) expect anything, but nothing short of amazing." Building a solid following on social media with covers of well known hits; Pharrell's 'Happy', Rihanna's 'What Now?' and One Direction's 'Story of My Life', Johnson has also worked with well known artists like Wretch32, Skepta, Grammy nominated Harmony Samuels and Rich + Tone. Johnson's voice is unique, full of experiences. It channels all his past pain, lessons, hurt, love, happiness, and mistakes. He has the ease of a storyteller, the mind of a friend we all have been waiting to hear, the eye of the tiger that overcame his past and the heart of a fighter. His passion is felt in his music, his tone, his vibe and his unique style. He is a promising artist, one to impact this industry with something never seen or heard before. The future is bright for this artist.
